As of now, my plan is to try to at least make it through the summer. A new work schedule and some much needed vacations to other countries should help bring about a kind of happiness. But I’m told the summers are rough, and I’m already experiencing uncomfortable heat in mid-May. One newcomer asked if anyone quit because of the hot summers. I suspect much of my summer aylyks (pay) will be spent on cold beverages and ice cream (not just because ice cream is cold and delicious, but also wrapped so no flies will have landed on it with their feces-covered feet. I’m telling you, I walked through the bazaar the other day and it was like I was in Egypt during the plagues, the flies were so thick). In fact I wondered aloud to Andy if I could subsist on ice cream for the summer without doing too much damage to my health. He thought if I had a hard-boiled egg for breakfast and ice cream for lunch and dinner and took my vitamin supplements, I’d be okay. Seems like sound advice.
I want to take this opportunity to thank all of you for reading my blog, commenting, and sending me messages. I know I don’t usually reply, but I read and appreciate every communiqué. Even the weird ones from people I don’t know. As you know, I’ve been going through a bit of a rough patch and have been faced with the question of whether to continue. It is good to know that so many of you support me regardless of what my decision will be. When I signed up, I was told to expect to lose ties with just about everyone back home. I’m glad to say that hasn’t been my experience. You’re all lovely people and if I could buy you each a pony I would.

I check your blog at least twice a week. I love hearing about your experiences, and I admire your courage to embark on this journey in the first place. Hang in there and remember you can accomplish anything you set your mind to!
