Salzburg is, of course, most famous as the birthplace of Mozart and they capitalize on that by making Mozart’s Balls, spherical chocolates with a pistachio marzipan center and wrapped in foil depicting Mozart’s face. Carrie and I
indulged in the “good” brand as opposed to the cheaper brand everyone takes back as gifts for people (according to our tour guide) for €1 each.
Carrie and I went to a Bavarian inn for lunch and shared a goulash (different than what you were served in your school cafeteria), schnitzel, and apple strudel. We didn’t have enough time to explore everything so we decided to visit the catacombs of St. Peter’s Abbey and the Salzburg Cathedral after our tour guide led us through the Mirabellgarten, the old market, and St. Peter’s Church. I’d love to go back sometime and go inside the fortress and Mozart’s birthplace (though we vetoed the latter due to cost, not time).
