I was stumped. My pastor died shortly before I came to Turkmenistan and here, of course, there’s no pastor to be had. It is the first time in my life I’m pastorless, and it’s weird. It’s odd how one conversation can lead to thoughts of something else and how seven months in, I’m still being struck by how radically different my life is here.
The other day a friend and I were talking about weddings and marriage, and he asked what I thought my wedding would look like. Now, I’m not one of those girls who has the whole thing planned, but you can’t be a part of as many weddings as I’ve been a part of without forming a few ideas. So I told him what my dress will look like and that I’m not walking down the aisle to the Bridal March or Pachelbel’s Canon in D. He asked who I wanted to officiate it. My dad won’t officiate because he just wants to be my dad at my wedding.

I've got a feeling that your dad might have mellowed and reconsidered. Some older men get radical in their later years.
