Answers to your questions:
Q. What does the title of your site mean?
A: I enjoy travel and learning new things, hence much of my musing involves these two subjects. Trekking represents travel and "trebeking" is a reference to Alex Trebek, host of the American quiz show, Jeopardy!
Q: Why is the blog portion of your site called Pensees?
A: Pensees refers to a compilation of notes and jottings of 17th century French mathematician and philosopher Blaise Pascal. Pensees translates as 'thoughts.' I like to think of them as 'musings.' It's the same root from which our word 'pensive' derives.
Q: I've been following your blog since the beginning and really enjoyed your writing, but what are you going to do now that you're no longer in Turkmenistan?
A: I will continue writing. Some of my writing will be about readjusting to life in the States and my adventures in deciding what to do next. Thanks for reading!
Q: Your home page explains your new header photo. Tell me about the new header photos for the other tabs.
A: The "About Me" header is me standing on top of a partial minaret at the historical site of Kone Urgench in the Dashoguz region of Turkmenistan. The "Pensees" photo is me in profile showing off my incredible schnoz with a quote from my pal Blaise Pascal. The new "Maresha Recommends" photo is me with a street kitten my Turkmen cousin took in. The "International Travel" photo was taken in Kiev, Ukraine. I'm pointing to a keg of mead (my surname). This page (FAQs) has me reading the New York Times while I wait for my flight to Washington, D.C. for Peace Corps staging. The "Contact Me" tab is me chatting on my phone in front of the hakimlik (city hall) in Balkanabat, Turkmenistan.
Q: I read your "about me" and want to hire you to work for my company.
A: I enjoy doing meaningful work with fun people for pay and benefits. Send inquiries as to my availability via the "contact me" tab.
Q: I read your "about me" and think you'd be a great catch for my son/brother/nephew/friend/self.
A: Interested parties may submit an application for significant other via the "contact me" tab. Applicants must be Christian with a sense of adventure, a sense of humor, and the confidence to be with a strong woman. Long hair is an advantage.
Q: You talk about feminism and Christianity a lot, but my dad says feminism is incompatible with the Bible.
A: Please pray for your dad; he is misguided.
